Preview – Monterey Classic Car Week

The eyes of all lovers and collectors of classic cars this week clamped to California. The Monterey Classic Car Week began, which is the largest event of its kind in the US. During the week, there are held concours of elegance, rallye on the road, circuit racing and of course the auctions. This year there are six!

Regarding the volume of sales and rentals offered in the auction, one week in Monterey belong to the world elite. It is offering everything here - from LeMans race cars, classic Ferrari, Porsche and many others. Because auctions are held in the second half of the week, before the results we bring you brief information about each auction.

12 to 15 Aug. JR Auction Cannery Row Car & Yach Auction

The auction marathon will start on Wednesday with company JR Auction, prepared a total of 77 cars and five yachts. In the catalog appear especially American cars from the period of the 50s, however, even lovers of European sports cars will find what they are searching for - for example, Jaguar XKE, Mercedes SL or De Tomaso Pantera GT4, Facel Vega FV-1 and Ferrari 400i. The invitation to the catalog there are also some newer cars, while noteworthy Ferrari 355, Ferrari 430, Lamborghini Gallardo Spyder or the greatest attraction of the auction in the form of the modern supercar hybrid Porsche 918 Spyder.

13 to 15 August Russo and Steele Collector Automobile Annual auction

Big auction, which this year celebrates its 15 years anniversary within a week in Monterey. The catalog consist of over 250 cars! We can find a variety of collector cars with European origin (including a number of different Ferraris, Jaguars, Porsches and Mercedeses), but also a classic American muscle cars or modified classics in form of hot-rod and custom.

Among the most interesting pieces are certainly 1963 Ferrari 250 GTL "Lusso" Coupe, 1966 Ferrari 330 GT 2 + 2, 1972 Ferrari 365 GTC/4 Coupe or 1985 Lamborghini Countach 5000S. Among European cars would also watch for 1971 Mercedes-Benz 280S 3.5 or 1976 Jaguar XJS V-12 Coupe.

Rare speciality: 1985 Dual-Ghia Convertible, a total of 117 models made and one of only two convertibles. The unique model is built on the concept car Dodge Firebomb that was produced for the American automaker by Ghia of Turin.

13 to 15 August RM Sotheby's

RM Sotheby's is one of the main auction, which carry most trades with classic cars. The Monterey collectors awaits extensive range of unique automobiles that make it the auction event you can not miss. Everything starts on Thursday, when it will offered a unique collection of 25 cars from the Pinnacle Portfolio. It is a collection of sports and supercar, among which shines Ferrari F40, Toyota 2000 GT, Bugatti Veyron (twice!), McLaren F1, Porsche 959, Lamborghini Miura P400 or Ferrari 250 GT LWB California Spider from Scaglietti with an estimated 9-11 million USD.

But that's not all - even "regular" catalog offers a variety of rare models with estimates of over $ 1 million. For upcoming auctions level talks the number of offered Ferrari - among themselves in Pinnacle Portfolio you can find 24 pricing horses in menu, with almost half of the appraised price exceeds one million USD. To mention 1957 Ferrari 250 GT Coupe by Boano (estimated 1.3 to 1.5 miles. USD), 1950 Ferrari 275S / 340 Barchetta America Scaglietti (estimate 7.5 to 10 mil. USD) and 1959 Ferrari 250 GT Cabriolet Series II Prototype Pinin Farina (1.5 to 1.9 mil. USD).

In conclusion, we should mention that as the penultimate menu of RM Sotheby's auction will also include one of the Czechoslovak production car - 1948 Tatra T87. Car after an earlier renovation recently undergone minor changes and is fully mobile, moreover, in beautiful condition. The estimate is 150 to 200 000 USD.
